The Box Athens introduces a series of acoustic concerts featuring new and upcoming artists. The Box Venue, clearly an unconventional space for live events, is transformed into a cozy livingroom where artists will be performing their music unplugged as they would in a private concert.
On Friday, May 19, our livingroom will be hosting the radical, but not random, AντARTες band.
AντARTες is a music duet which lovingly manipulates traditional greek music of the 20th century. Always using the “rebetiko” form as their primary inspiration, they have a broad repertoire ranging from the “mourmourika” songs and the romanzas from the city of Izmir to serenades and hawaiian tunes. Using a plethora of musical instruments, AντARTες promise us a music experience filled with cheek, tenderness, surprise, humour and a lot of soul.
Alexis Kostopoulos: vocals, cello, viola da gamba, trombone, musical saw, tambourine, castanets, kazoo
Nikos Karidis: vocals, trumpet, euphonium, baglamas, Hawaiian guitar, guitar, drums
That night in our “livingroom”:
– We will be serving only wine (white and red), on the house.
– We kindly request of you not to smoke inside the Venue.
– You are kindly requested to keep your mobile phones on silent mode. The concert will be unplugged.
Starting time: 8:00pm
