The poet’s lense – Photographs from the Andreas Embiricos archive

15/05/13 – 31/05/13

The Box Athens in collaboration with AGRA Publications and Leonidas Embiricos present the photographic exhibition “The Poet’s Lense – Photographs from the Andreas Embiricos archive.”

All photographs shown in this exhibition are selected due to the artistic value of the material which, chronologically, covers the entire spectrum of Embiricos’ occupation with photography. All the chosen subjects are people-oriented and depict people, snapshots and street images. The shots are pioneering for the time they were taken and are distinctly timeless. Being a photographer, a poet and a psychoanalyst, Embiricos impresses us, even more so today, with his immaculate technical knowledge. As his close friend  Odysseas Elytis writes, ” These photographs – crafted with his own hands – he carried them out with the skill and persistence of a maniac.”

The photographs’ reproduction was made by original prints found in Andreas Embiricos photographic archive.
